The Eltham Leisure Centre has in place a ‘Watch Around Water’ policy. This policy relates to parent or guardian supervision of children at all times. Children enrolled in the Eltham Leisure Centre Swim School are entitled to a free supervisory adult to accompany them for swimming outside of swim lesson hours.

For Children under 5 years of age the parent swims free as they are to be witihin arms reach of their child at all times. For Children over the age of 5 years, if the accompanying supervisor wishes to swim the supervisor will need to pay a casual entry fee if entering the water.

The Watch Around Water policy is as follows:

  • Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied into the facility by a responsible adult 16 years and over and actively supervised at all times while in the facility. If children are unsupervised they will be removed from the water.
  • Children under 5 years must be accompanied into the facility by a responsible adult 16 years and over and be supervised within arm’s reach at all times while in the facility. If children are not within arm’s reach of their parent or guardian at all times, they will be removed from the water.
