The Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club hosted their first Women in Sport breakfast on Tuesday morning celebrating the club’s great history of developing elite female basketball talent.

Hosted by Megan Hustwaite, prominent sports journalist, all in attendance were treated to on stage interviews with three special guest women who all have their own unique history with the club.
Current Wildcats Championship Senior Women Head Coach Katrina Hibbert talked about her illustrious career as an Australian Opal Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, WNBA player and two time WNBL MVP. The audience were also enthralled in Hibbert’s stories of starting her basketball journey as a junior Eltham Wildcat player and now her return as Head Coach this season.
Up next was current Australian Opal Alice Kunek. Kunek also an Eltham Wildcat junior, recently returned from the Opals Asian Cup tour and will soon head to Western Australia to join the Perth Lynx in the WNBL.
Finally Rebecca Cole talked about her recent experience representing Australia in the new 3 on 3 World Cup. Cole is hot favourite to take out the Big V MVP award for her efforts at the Wildcats this season before joining the Melbourne Boomers in the upcoming WNBL season.
The Eltham Wildcats are a key part of the Eltham Leisure Centre and the broader Eltham community who offer basketball programs for not only women, but participants of all ages and skill levels.
